VISIT TO KMC BY FOOD AND AGRICULTURAL ORGANIZATION (FAO) ASSESSMENT TEAM

The Government of Kenya and the Food and Agricultural Organization of the UN, with the funding from the European Union (EU) is currently implementing the FAO project GCP/GLO/949/EC “Strengthening food control and phyto-sanitary capacities and governance”. Under this project, FAO is facilitating the assessment of National food control system of the Republic of Kenya, using the food control system assessment tool developed by FAO and World Health Organization (WHO).
Yesterday 13/7/2023, the FAO assessment team led by Mr Jairo R Torres visited the Kenya Meat Commission, AthibRiver plant. The purpose of their mission is to visit competent authorities and national stakeholders to cross-check, validate and complement the data submitted by the said authorities for the finalization of the assessment plan. Mr Torres was accompanied by Mr Jairus Machakwa and James K Gathumbi who are consultants.
The KMC team present was led by Ms Sarah Chepkoech, Quality Assurance Manager, Mr Joseph Ole Sarioyo, Vet In Charge, Ms Nancy Jepkoech, Assistant Manager, Corporate Communications Office and Captain (Dr) Gati Chacha, Livestock Officer.
