Kenya Meat Commission (KMC) Board of Commissioners paid a visit to the KMC factory at Kibarani in Mombasa County.
Led by KMC Chairman Lt Gen (Rtd) Joseph Kasaon, the Board of Commissioners introduced themselves and their roles to the Kibarani Factory staff.
In his address to the staff, Lt Gen (Rtd) Kasaon urged them to remain steadfast to their mission of procuring, processing and marketing high quality meat and meat products at competitive prices using efficient, effective and environmentally friendly systems to the satisfaction of customers and other stakeholders.
He also highlighted the history of the commission and the role they play in ensuring the objectives set are achieved for the future prosperity and sustainability of the factory.
“I must commend you for the hard work and commitment you have all put in which has enabled us leverage the opportunity at hand by capitalizing on the brand recognition for sustainable operations thus looking forward to open franchises within the coastal region,” added the chairman.
Brigadier James Githaiga, KMC Managing Commissioner, also thanked the staff for operating with utmost professionalism and integrity which has translated into more production and sales of the factory’s products.
KMC Kibarani Factory re-opened on 29 August 2022 through an executive order which reassigned the ministerial roles of KMC from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock to the Kenya Defence Forces which falls under the Ministry of Defence.
It supplies fresh and quality meat products to Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Units/Formations and other Security Agencies within the coast and other regions.
The factory has continued to uplift the livelihood of farmers in the coast region by providing a ready market and buying livestock at competitive prices.
