The Cabinet Secretary Ministry Agriculture and Livestock Hon Mithika Linturi has urged Mombasa residents to purchase quality and affordable meat and meat products from the Kenya Meat Commission (KMC) as a way of promoting the growth of the Meat Processor.

Speaking today during his tour of the KMC Kibarani factory, the CS alluded that the factory has been a source of livelihood for many Kenyans at the Coastal Region and thus the need to support it through purchase of its quality and affordable meat and meat products.

The CS further applauded the Kibarani team notably the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) led by Col Martin Maluki for the commendable work and major accomplishment. The plant has a storage capacity of twenty eight Metric Tonnes (28MT)and purchases livestock from Lamu, Taita Taveta, Tana River, Kilifi and Kwale Counties.

Kibarani Plant intends to open five (5) Franchise outlets in these areas: Likoni, Bamburi, Nyali, Changamwe and Mtwapa in addition to its Makupa Nyama Haven Shop which is currently operational. The advert will appear in the dailies in the coming weeks for competitive bidding by the public.This is all in a bid to expand KMC’s distribution and market base in the Coastal Region.

CS Hon Mithika Linturi pleaded with Mombasa residents to purchase quality meat and meat products from KMC in order to support the Commission and boost the local Livestock farmers. He reassured the residents of continued support by the National Government through purchase of Livestock. KMC Kibarani plays an integral role in offering a market for livestock farmers as well as provision of safe, quality and healthy meat products to it’s Customers.

Present during the visit were; The Principal Secretary, State Department of Livestock, Mr Harry Kimtai, Mombasa County Commissioner, Mr John Otieno among other dignitaries.
